There is a cargo carrier that you can use with your 2002 Ford Mustang V6 that has a rise in the shank to combat low ground clearance, though a cargo carrier for a 2 inch hitch won't work for your Mustang. The reason for that is the only hitches that fit your '02 Mustang are Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitches, so you will need a Class I cargo carrier for your Mustang, which we do have.

So for the hitch and cargo carrier, here is exactly what you will need for your 2002 Ford Mustang:

- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit- # C11041 Fits V6 models.

- Curt Cargo Carrier # C18110

- Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap # 18050 ( required by Curt for used when using a bike rack or cargo carrier)

This is the only carrier that will work for you as it is the only one with the correct bumper clearance, as the hitch sits pretty far back. The carrier does have a 3-3/4 inch rise, so when installed it will be more than a foot off the ground. The carrier measures just over 47 inches long and 19 inches wide, and is also lightweight at just 30 lbs so it will be easy to handle.

If you also need a cargo bag to keep your gear safe while using this carrier, the best fit is the etrailer Cargo Bag # e98990.
