Wire Function of a Remote Rotary Switch on a Superwinch S2500 Winch

Question:

hi iv just got a superewinch s2500 its a few years old the remote wires have been cut on the winch side there are 2 threaded bolts i take it its for + - the remote is a bit bulky yellow up down switch plus a red turn nob there are 4 black wires 1 from the up button 2 black from the down button to loom plus one black from down button to red turn switch oposite side of the red switch black to loom then theres 1 small black wire not conected 1 yellow/green not conected can i take it theres 2 black goes to the + and 2 black to - if so what about the 2 thats not conected also what does the red turn switch due s/n s053298 s2500 superwinch

It sounds like someone tried to install a remote rotary style switch on your winch. I have included a diagram of how the Superwinch regular rotary switch, # SW1591, gets installed along with a link to the instructions. However, I cannot say what the wire colors are or should be because someone may have just used whatever wire was available. The diagram should help explain function though.

The red knob if turned one way pulls the line in and turned the other way pushes the line out.
