I am interested in a roof rack system for a 2017 Ram crew cab. I was looking at the rino 2500 but not sure if I need both attaching parts. I would also like kayak racks for the rack system. Any suggestion for a rack system would be appreciated

The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbar setup will work great on your 2017 Ram 3500 Crew Cab. You will need the crossbar set that comes with a quantity of 2 bars, which will accommodate kayak carriers without an issue. The complete kit you need is as follows: Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 59" Long - Qty 2 # RRVA150B-2, 2500 Legs # RRRLKVA, and 2500 Fit Kit # DK043. Instead of the black crossbars you can go with silver # RRVA150S-2 if you'd like. The weight capacity for this system is 165lbs. The crossbars have a top channel that allows track-mounted accessories to be easily installed or removed.
For a kayak carrier you can use Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier - Fixed - Universal Mount # S510 for 1 kayak or Rhino-Rack 2 Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style - Folding - Side Loading # S512-S512X for 2 kayaks. Both of these kayak carriers will clamp onto the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars. I attached demonstration videos for you to check out.
