Question:

We are installing the jack on a contractor tandem axle trailer that is used on a daily basis to haul building materials to a job site and bring trash away, towed by a Ford 150 4wd.. The ball height is about 16 inches. The leg obviously minimizes crank time but we will also put a 2x6 or 4x6 to minimize extension. The resulting crank height is about 5 inches. So,,,the question is,,,what should the pad height be when fully retracted?

The Pro Series Square Topwind Jack with Footplate and Drop Leg, part # PS1400800383, has an overall height when fully retracted and with the drop leg fully inserted, of 22-7/8 inches.

You can select an appropriate mounting height for welding the jack to your trailer frame based on having adequate clearance between the bottom of the footplate and the ground when under a typical load. My contact at ProSeries confirms that the outer tube on this jack is designed to be strong enough to allow flexibility in mounting position.
