I am curious about how aux driving lights round or light bar could be appropriately attached to this basket.

Your Thule Trail XT Roof Cargo Carrier # TH865XT has a built-in T-slot for channel-mounted accessories. The Rhino-Rack LED Light Mounting Brackets # RR43174 will fit into the standard T-slot and will allow a light bar to be mounted to it. You will need to measure your roof rack's t slot to determine what size light bar you can fit. MaxxTow Off-Road Light Bar - LED # MT80632 would be an excellent choice. This light bar is only 21-1/2" long and should fit, but you will still want to measure to be sure.
I am attaching a few demonstration videos that will help with this process. In the Thule Trail XT Roof Cargo Carrier video that I have attached you will notice at about 0:54 they begin to show where the top channel T-slot is located.
