Hello, I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan. I would like a basic roof system for fishing rods. what do you recomend?

For a basic roof rack system to haul fishing rods on your Corolla I would recommend the SportRack # SR1002 roof rack with 50" crossbars. To that add the Rhino-Rack # RR572 4-pole locking fishing rod holder.
Optionally you could use the Rhino-Rack # RR573F 5-pole holder or the Rhino-Rack # RR576F 11-pole holder.
