I may have a solution for you, but we do not have a direct OEM style replacement shock for the 2006 Chevy Avalanche. However, you may be able to use the Hopkins EasyLift Truck Bed Tailgate Lift Assist # 74211 in place of the broken shock. This has been confirmed to work with GMC and Chevy trucks, so it should work on an Avalanche just the same.

I've linked a review video of this part for you to take a look at, but it would be the best available solution we have for your vehicle.
