I have the Falcon all terrain tow bar to tow a 2019 Acadia. Looking at the examples no one seems to use the cross bar. Is it required? When would it be required?

The Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar part # RM-522 can be used with or without the crossbar depending on which base plates are being used. If you use the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit part # RM-523189-5 which is a fit for a 2019 GMC Acadia then you won't need the crossbar but if you use the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit part # RM-523189-4 then you will.
