There are a few things to consider before choosing a cargo box for your 2002 Subaru Outback Wagon. First, do you have a factory roof rack with crossbars on your vehicle? If not, you will need to add a set of crossbars like the Malone SteelTop, # MPG201.

Both the Malone crossbars and the factory crossbars are adjustable along the side rails on your vehicle so you should have no problem using the SportRack Vista XL Cargo Carrier, # SR7018. This cargo carrier requires a crossbar spread of 25-7/8 inches, 27-7/8 inches or 29-7/8 inches and will fit on the SportRack crossbars or the factory crossbars.

To set the proper crossbar spread, you simply measure from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar and adjust them accordingly.
