Question:
I have a Rhode Gear Speedster Shuttle where the rack bars flare up when extended out. It has no cradles straps. I measured the bars and they came out to 1inch wide. Are the straps better or is the cradle?

For your Rhode Gear Bike Carrier, I would recommend the Replacement Cradle # RG8890084 you referenced. It provides a longer-lasting, more snug fit for the bikes you plan to transport as well as protecting the frame of the bike including the brake/gear cables. This particular cradle fits Yakima-era Super Shuttle racks, but we cannot guarantee it will fit the Speedster model.
A tip for installing cradles on a bike rack such as this is to spray aerosol hair spray on the bars before sliding the replacement cradle on. It will act as a lubricant while wet and will become tacky when it dries, holding the cradles in position.
If you intend to carry womens bikes or bikes without an horizontal bar, you might be interested in the Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar # Y02531. It provides level transportation for these bikes and increases ground clearance during transport. I have provided a link to both the instructions for the proper installation of this item as well as a video review.
