How to Make the Tow Ready Trailer Wiring Harness Long Enough to be Used on 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Updated 04/24/2013 | Published 11/14/2012 >
Question:
Hello, I want to purchase wire set 118425 but a number of reviews have indicated that the wires are too short. Is this still an issue? Also, I want to buy bracket 18144 4 - pole and would like to know if the above wire harness fits this bracket. Thanks Much...

There is a pretty simple fix for the issue people have where it seems like the harness is too short.
What you will need to do is cut the zip-tie that holds the left and right harnesses together and then pull the wires apart as they are bonded together. This will give you plenty of wire to make it to both taillights of your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
If you check out some of the other reviews you can see that some people had success with this method too.

It would have helped to have this addressed in the video for the installation. It mentioned nothing about having to cut the zip tie and so I had to come up with my own solution. As there becomes more and more reviews customers are going to be less likely to see this information specific to the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is not mentioned in the directions that are sent in the packaging either. Seems like kind of a big step to have left out or at least not addressed.
