Question:
My 2009 GMC Envoy factory installed 7-way trailer wiring socket does not have a black wire. My understanding is that the black wire is a 12V power wire to maintain RV trailer battery level while connected and pulling the trailer. Could you please verify. Thanks

The pin in the 1:00 position of a 7-way is the 12 volt accessory circuit which is what is used to charge trailer batteries typically when charging. Not all vehicle have this circuit active but it's pretty easy to accomplish this. What you'll need to do is use 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) to go from that pin through a breaker like # 9510 to the positive pin of your vehicle battery and this circuit will be complete.
