Question:

so theres no way that using the shank adapter would work with the pivot? Have a 1 1/4 inch nv 2.0 and got a van with 2 inch hitch with 2 rear doors

To get what you want, you will need to use this version of the Kuat NV 2.0 # BA22B because it has a 2" shank. The Kuat Pivot # PVD20B and all of the other swing away systems like the Yakima BackSwing # Y02483 are designed for use with a 2" hitch and only 2" accessories. It is not recommended to use any swing away system with a shank adapter or any 1-1/4" accessory.

Since you have a van, you have plenty of room for 4 passangers. Since the Kuat Pivot can be used to haul 4 bikes, you could grab the 4 bike rack version of the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22B-NA22B so you can carry 3 more friends bikes with you!
