You are correct, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24878, that you referenced is designed to fit the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback and will not fit on your 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan.
Instead, you will want to look at the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11240. This is also a class I trailer hitch like the hitch that you referenced, but it is designed to work with the sedan style Sonic. I have attached the installation instructions of this hitch for you to check out as well as an installation video for you.
