Question:
I need the correct ball mount for a new 2012 GMC Acadia. I would like a multiperpose ball mount with 2 inch receiver for bike racks and cargo carriers. I have a 5foot X 8foot utility trailer I need to pull. At the same time I want to mount my bike rack or cargo carrier. We just bought our new 2012 GMC Acadia with the factory mount trailer hitch. I dont know if I need so many inches down on the ball mount. Im lost. Please help.

In order to pick out the correct ball mount you are going to know a couple measurements. You will first need to measure the hitch height from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. Next, you will need to measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the trailer is level and on level ground.
When you compare these numbers you will know the correct height ball mount to get. If the hitch height is higher than the trailer height you will need a drop ball mount. You will subtract the trailer height from the hitch height to get this.
If the trailer height is higher than the hitch height you will need a rise ball mount. You will subtract the hitch height from the trailer height for this. Check out the FAQ article I attached on how to pick out a ball mount also.
I attached a link to all the different 2 inch hitch ball mounts for you to check out also. If you scroll down and select the rise/drop you need from the facet on the left you will be able to see the recommended ball mounts.
