Correct Wiring Harness for a 2012 Dodge Journey SXT

Question:

I have purchased and had install a hitch to my 2012 Dodge Journey SXT 6 cyl to haul a utility trailer, but once my mechanic open the wiring kit it was not fit the vehicle, even if it was marked 2009 -2012 Journey. Called the place that sold the wiring harness and he said we need a wiring kit made especially made for 2012 Dodge Journey. The local dealer told me that these were hard to get and that once installed the vehicle had to be reprogrammed, is this right? Now this part # 1185367 would this part be right for my Journey. Would appreciate an answer as your earliest convenience. Thank you

I spoke with my contact at Tow Ready and verified that your 2012 Dodge Journey SXT will not have to be reprogrammed if you install the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118536. This wiring harness will use the factory connectors at the back of each tail light assembly to provide signals to the 4-way connector. This wiring harness will only fit the 2012 Dodge Journey and it will not fit the 2009 to 2011 Journeys.

I know some Dodge vehicles will come with a factory trailer connector tucked away under the rear of the vehicle and in order to use the factory installed connector the body control module must be rewired by the dealer to activate the tow package wiring. Your vehicle will not have to be rewired or reprogrammed with this wiring harness because it will not require the use of tow package wiring.
