Question:
I have a 2012 chevy silverado 1500 and wonder if connecting this camera will damage anything on the electrical system and void the warranty.

Expert Reply:
The Hopkins rear view camera system, # HM60195VA, connects to the reverse light circuit on the vehicle and will only power on when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The power requirements for the camera and sensors are not enough to overload the reverse light circuit so provided it is wired in correctly there will not be any problems. In the unlikely event there were a short, the reverse light circuit fuse would blow long before any damage could occur.
