Will Protective Vacuum Cup Covers on SeaSucker Roof Rack Wear Out the Suction Cups

Hello: Happy with my recently received surf rack. In a couple of places the manual sheet says I should have received an extra vacuum cup although in the whats in the box section there is no extra vacuum cup listed. Also, I use this rack almost every day and have been removing it each day, covering the cups with the protective covers. I am wondering if it would be better to not use the covers and just be careful with the cups as the constant tucking the rubber cup edges into the plastic protective covers might cause the rubber edges to wear out.

I spoke with the folks at SeaSucker, who inform me that the extra vacuum cup is no longer included with the # SP3300 Board Carrier, and that you must have received an old set of instructions. SeaSucker tells me that the covers should be used when the rack is not in place on the vehicle, as they help the vacuum cups keep their shape as well as protecting them from damage. Installing and removing the protective covers won't damage the vacuum cups.
