Question:
I have a Ford F250 truck. The title says 1997. The year stated on the door ID says 1996. Is there any way that I can measure or affirm to make sure that I order the correct tail gate? Thanks

For 1997 the F-250 Super Duty bed remained the same as the 1996 models. An F-250 truck will use the VG-100 Fifth Wheel Tailgate if it is a Super Duty pickup. If you have a F-250 LD pickup then the part number you need is VG-97-4000.
The ID in the door jamb is the production date for your pickup. Auto manufacturers start building the next years model mid year usually. That means your 1997 was built after the model change but in 1996 most likely. You should find the Super Duty or Light Duty designation in the door jamb or in the manual for the truck.
