Can the Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender Be Turned Upside-Down To Swing Both Ways

Question:

Looking at the measurements for the kuat pivot 2, it appears that my rear door on my 2019 Promaster will JUST clear the swing arm like, by less than a quarter inch. If I wanted a passenger side swing out, is there any reason I couldnt just use the driver side version upside down for better clearance? I guess there are the obvious ease-of-use issues with how the releases are designed. Other than that, are there potential safety issues? Other issues I am not thinking about? Thanks!

The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks comes in two styles, part # PVD20B which opens towards the driver side and part # PVP20B which opens towards the passenger side. The reason they make two options is so you can have the bike rack swing away from traffic no matter which side of the road you drive on which is not the same for all countries. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend you just flip the swing away upside-down as Kuat does not recommend this. If it was possible, they would have most likely not created a version for each direction.
