I have a trailer valet XL with a 2 and 5/16 ball on it. Can I just unscrew that and replace it with the 2-inch ball which I believe cost about $25 on your website.

Yes, the existing 2-5/16" hitch ball on your Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly # TVXL25 can simply be removed/unscrewed and replaced with the Replacement 2" Hitch Ball # TVHB2. The mounting base for the two ball sizes are the same so that can be left in place on your Trailer Valet XL.
