What length tow ball shank should I use with the DTBM42000. Is a 2 1/8inch shank long enough?

A ball with a medium shank, 2-1/8 inches or longer, will work fine with the Solid Aluminum Ball Mount, # DTBM4200. You will just need to make sure that there are at least 2 threads past the nut when it is properly tightened to the ball mount.
Here are some of the balls we recommend:
For a 1-7/8 inch diameter, # 63851
For a 2 inch diameter, # SC23-C
For a 2-5/16 inch diameter, # 63853
