Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Install Where Blinkers Activate Both Sides of Trailer
Published 01/21/2020 >
Question:
Hello, I recently purchased from etrailer, 277-000143 Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug - 8foot Long, to replace the cord on my Hurst trailer. My trailer has actually 6 wires: white, black, red, yellow, brown, and green. It does not have a blue wire, but it does have brakes. I followed the wiring diagram on your website. but after finishing all my connections, only my running lights work. when I turn the signal lights on my truck, both signal lights come on trailer acting as blinkers. and this happens on either the right or left signals are on the truck. I have tested to make sure I have power coming from truck. I would greatly appreciate any kind of insight you could offer me. Seems like Ive tried everything. Have a great day!

Sounds like you might have swapped the turn signal circuits and the running light circuit on your trailer wiring. This would cause both of the blinkers to flash when you put on either blinker. So what I would recommend you do is start over with the wiring connects. Use a jumper wire from a 12 volt battery positive post to run voltage to each of the trailer wiring circuits so that you can identify what all of the circuits are. And then use the diagram you found already to make the connections to the correct circuits.
