Installing Brake Controller on 2012 Ford Expedition

Question:
My 2012 Expedition has a harness plug that looks like it is a 6 prone plug but it only has 4 prones. Will this adapter work? I cannot find anything at e-trailer that specifies the part for the 2012 Expedition.

The 3035-P is the correct Brake Controller Wiring Adapter for your Expedition. The under dash connector will be gray in color, and can be found behind and to the right of the OBD port, as shown in the installation video I have linked you to. Although the existing plug has 6 terminals, only 4 of them are used.
If your Expedition is equipped with the factory 7-way trailer connector, once the controller is plugged in and mounted to the underside of the dash, the install will be complete.
If your Expedition was equipped with the 4-pole connector, you will need an adapter like part # 37185. The adapter will plug into your existing 4-pole, leaving 4 remaining wires to be connected. The blue wire carries the output voltage from the brake controller, and will connect to an existing blue wire that can be found by tracing the wiring harness for your existing 4-pole back toward the front of the vehicle. There will be a red or orange wire on the factory harness that will connect to the black wire on the harness. The purple adapter wire will be tapped into the reverse lamp circuit on the Expedition if needed, otherwise it can be capped off and bundled up out of the way.
The white adapter wire will ground to the vehicle frame.
I have linked you to an install video showing a brake controller being installed on a 2011 Expedition with the factory tow package.
