Which Pins of 50 Amp Socket Carry Voltage

Question:

If installing this inlet for a 125V system, do I just leave the 4th terminal empty ?

If wiring up a 50 amp 125/250 volt outlet for 125 volts like the part # 277-000140 you can leave either the X or Y legs off as either of them provides 125 volts. When used with both legs active you get the 250 volts.

The X and Y legs are the ones that have L-shape to the pins. See attached picture.
