Upgraded Landing Gear Legs for Forest River Cardinal Fifth Wheel Trailer

Published 12/03/2019

Question:

I have replaced my front jacks on my trailer multiple times after failures. I have always replaced with the traditional crank jack legs, but am hoping to find a fully electric alternative. Would these jacks be able to lift my trailer? The UVW is 11,920lbs, and the max weight is 13,500lbs. Appreciate your input.

Yes, the Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set part # RP500708 would be sufficient for a Forest River Cardinal Fifth Wheel Trailer as the landing gear legs only really need to be rated for the pin weight of the trailer. That said, the higher rated landing gear legs you go with in relation to the weight of the trailer, the longer they will last and the faster they will lift/lower therefore the Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set should be very reliable. The dual motor setup will also help reduce wear as the strain of lifting is not all placed on a single gear bur rather distributed to either side.

In order to confirm fit of the Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set, you will need to verify the weld stops on the trailer are spaced 15-1/2" apart inside to inside or 17-1/2" apart outside to outside which is the most common spacing so you should be good. I have attached a photo to assist with the measurements.
