Question:

I recently just unboxed an older Yakima PowderHound Part #3044 ski rack. The mounting hardware provided fits the Yakima Roundbar, but not the Yakima CoreBar I have fitted to my vehicle. Will this particular part serve as a proper fit for my CoreBar and be compatible with the PowderHound?

I have a solution for you, but the Replacement Mounting Hardware for Yakima PowderHound # Y8860040 will not work with your 3044 Yakima ski rack; I confirmed this with my contact at Yakima.

The Universal MightyMounts # Y03590 is exactly what you need to adapt your first generation PowderHound ski rack (for round bars) to fit the Yakima CoreBars, like # Y00421 on your vehicle. I've attached the installation instructions for you to check out at the bottom of the page.
