Does Polarity of Wires Matter for Breakaway Cable of Blue Ox Patriot Braking System

Question:
The stereo plug tip of my Breakaway Cable for my Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System broke. I can replace just the broken tip with a standard 1/8 inch stereo plug, or I can replace the entire cable that is zip tied at several places on my car’s frame with replacement cable BX2940931. If I decide to replace just the broken tip with a new replacement stereo plug, and if I use as contact points the very tip of the plug and the contact point closest to the base of the plug, does wire polarity matter? If polarity matters, then should I connect the red wire or the white wire to the stereo plug tip?

Since breakaway switches work on the principal of completing a circuit they are not polarity sensitive. So if you went the route of just replacing the 1/8 inch TRS connection it wouldn't matter which wire was which. Otherwise you could just use the # BX2940931 that you referenced and you wouldn't have to do any splicing.
