Your 2012 Toyota Prius can handle the weight of a bike rack and the weight of your e-bikes.

There is one e-bike rack that was designed for the lighter duty vehicles like your 2012 Toyota Prius that will you'll really like with the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202. This fits Class I hitches like what your 2012 Toyota Prius has available like the Draw Tite part # 24847, is designed for the heavier e-bikes as it has a 65 lb per bike capacity, and also has a ramp built into it which makes loading and unloading the heavier bikes much easier.

This is the only solution we have that will a Class I hitch like what your Prius has but it's also your best option so I recommend it highly. The Draw Tite hitch for your vehicle also has plenty of capacity for this application as well. I attached a link to a review video for this for you to check out as well.

You gave me a rack which is double what i can afford to pay. The bikes are $$$ by my experience but there must be successful carriers at half this price.

I have a less expensive solution I think you might be interested in with the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z as it has a 45 lb per bike capacity and can fit Class I hitches. It wasn't intended for e-bikes specifically but it will work cover your needs. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.
