Question:

I have a 1972 Shasta 19 Starflyte camper trailer. I need tail lights for it 2. It has 3 wires going to each and the light fixture that is on it now has two bulbs. It also has the red /white lens. Will this part work? If not, what part will work.

Your camper has tail lights with backup lights most likely, from your description. The replacement, Optronics Tail Light, part # RVST56, you have chosen should work as long as it can be mounted securely, approximately where the old lights are mounted. You can remove one of the old lights and measure the mounting holes to be sure, the RVST56 mounting holes are seven inches on center. See picture with the measurements listed.

Your 3 wires should be for taillights (most likely brown), stop/turn signal (yellow/left, and green/right) and red for the backup lights. Some older trailers have different wire colors or have been redone so you may need to check the function of each wire with a circuit tester like # PTW2993.

The RVST56 has 5 wires, and their function will be outlined in the instructions, they are capable of performing stop/turn, taillight, backup, and license plate illumination. If you find that you do not need one or more of these functions, you can just not use that particular wire. Below I have posted a link that will help with the wiring process.
