Helpful Expert Reply:
The Reese # RP3344 and Curt # C17124 Weight Distribution Shanks that you referenced are interchangeable with regards to the weight distribution heads that they fit but they differ in their lengths, capacity, and the amount of drop they can provide.
The Reese # RP3344 will give you a maximum drop of 8-5/8 inches if used with a round bar system or a drop of 7-5/8 inches with a trunnion bar system. It has an 11 inch length and a 1,400 pound tongue weight capacity.
The Curt # C17124 on the other hand provides up to a 10 inch drop with round bars or a 9 inch drop with trunnion bars. It has a longer design at 13 inches (creating more clearance between the truck's tailgate and trailer) and a higher tongue weight capacity of 1,500 pounds.
I have attached a short video review on both options that you can check out as well.
