Do you need to match wire size going from battery to battery parallel arrangement when adding a second battery to the travel trailer ?

Yes, when wiring up a battery bank of parallel batteries wired together you need to use the same gauge wire between the batteries that is used on the current leads for the batteries. Otherwise you aren't getting the full amperage capabilities that two batteries wired in parallel provides.
