Can the sleeve on the shank be removed so that the hitch can be used on both 2.5inch and 2inch receivers? It looks like the sleeve is just there to fill the space and that the hitch was actually made for 2inch receivers. Would this particular model work for both size receivers?

My contact at Fastway said the sleeve on the shank of the Fastway Self-Locking Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # DTALBM7025 is part of the lock assembly and is more than a spacer. It is not designed to be removed to enable using this 2-1/2-inch ball mount in a 2-inch hitch. However, Fastway does offer sleeve # DTADP25-SS that let's you use one of their DTLBM and DTALBM series 2-inch ball mounts like # DTALBM6600 in the larger 2-1/2-inch hitch size.
