A properly loaded trailer should have a tongue weight (TW) that is 10-15% of the weight of the trailer. If your trailer weighs in at 10,965 lbs then your ideal TW range is 1,096 lbs - 1,645 lbs. You can use a commercial scale or rig something up with a bathroom scale to help determine what your loaded TW is but we've found the easiest solution is to use the Scale # e99044 because it is easy to use, and it easily stores inside your trailer or tow vehicle so you can make sure you get you TW right every time you load up.

Since there are an infinite number of ways that luggage can be loaded, I won't be able to tell you what your TW is just by the weight of your trailer because if you put more luggage in front of your axle(s) it will increase your TW but if you move it behind your axle(s) it will decrease your TW. This is why using a portable scale gives you a big advantage.
