Will a 5th Wheel Hitch Open if Parts Fall Off

Question:
The clip for the opening bar fell off I put it back on if your going down the road with a camper on and it fell off will the hitch open?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "the clip for the opening bar" in reference to the Reese 5th Wheel Hitch # RP30047 because the way this hitch couples is by rotating the latch and backing the truck up so the king pin pushes the hitch jaws open, which springs the jaws closed and turning the handle towards the closed position. The latch on this hitch MUST be aligned with the groove in the handle or the hitch can fall out. Since I'm unsure of exactly what the situation is with your hitch and parts have begun to fall off I very strongly recommend a new hitch.
