Yes, the SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box, # SR7018, will fit on the factory crossbars on a 2012 Honda Pilot.
If your Pilot has factory installed rails that run front to back but no cross bars, you will need to add them. I provided a link to all of the options for crossbars to add to the raised rails on your pilot, should you need them.
If your Pilot has a naked roof, no roof rack system at all, you will need add a system of roof rack feet and crossbars to carry the Vista XL Cargo Box. I added a link to all of the naked roof options for your Pilot also.
When selecting crossbars for your Pilot, if needed, I would recommend going with the newer Thule AeroBlade crossbars that are more aerodynamic and much quieter.
