Troubleshooting Atwood Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector Beeping

Updated 09/07/2020 | Published 06/17/2019

Question:

Can you please help us identify our chirp? We are getting a single chirp every forty seconds. The red lights both flash and the green and yellow lights are steady.

I took a look at the owner's manual of your Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector # AT36681 and the beeping every 40 seconds and the issue you are having is that "a fault has been detected that compromises some detector function."

What you need to do is use push the Alarm Reset button to attempt to clear the fault. If this does not work, the owner's manual states that "the detector is not functioning properly and must be replaced."

Mine started going off today, I reset it and light stays on but no beep for about 30 min then the same thing again. I got down on floor and could not smell anything. Gas is off so why would my lp detector be going off? Anyway to bypass it?

It sounds like there's an internal fault on the unit. There isn't a way to bypass that alarm. You'll need to replace the detector itself.

I have searched all over to see how to actually change the batteries, keeps chirping and been a year since changed. No video or instructions on how to change out batteries. HELP..

This detector wires directly to a power source and doesn't use an internal battery like one you would use in your house. You'll need to find what power source/battery it's wired to and see if it's still fully charged. It could be that the detector itself just needs to be replaced.

Our unit is constantly chirping with no lights flashing. I change batteries - still chirps. I take the batteries out - still chirping. ???

As Kyle notes in his answer, if you've tried resetting the detector but that isn't working it sounds like you need to replace the unit.
