Using Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power Lithium Battery Charger In Place of WFCO Power Center

Updated 06/04/2019 | Published 05/31/2019

Question:

My TT came equipped with a WFCO WF-9990 power center with 90a converter/charger. Im planning to install Lithium batteries and need to change out the converter. Can this converter be installed in the same location as the factory converter? I believe there is enough space for it, Id just like to know if it can be installed inside of a power center. If so, I would assume the wiring will be straight forward as Ill be disconnecting one unit and connecting the new. Thanks,

I reached out to my contact at Progressive Dynamics regarding the Inteli-Power RV Converter and Battery Charger # PD9180ALV that you referenced and he said that it will work great to charge your Lithium batteries but he doesn't recommend installing it in the WFCO housing that you mentioned. This is simply because the converter requires sufficient air flow to prevent overheating so a different mounting area would be required.

Also keep in mind that you will need to have a 20 amp 120V outlet to plug the unit into. The plug could technically be cut off for direct wiring but doing this would void the converter's warranty.
