Are you aware if a Volvo S40 is capable of carrying two 12foot Kayaks on its roof safely? If so what would you recommend? Thanks

The two factors you need to consider for putting two 12 foot kayaks on your 2007 Volvo S40 is the weight capacity of the roof of your vehicle and if there is enough room up there for them.
To determine the weight capacity of your roof you will want to consult the owners manual of your vehicle, it will be listed in there. If the weight of both kayaks is less then the roof capacity of your vehicle plus a little extra for a kayak carrier you know you will be good.
In order to install 2 kayak carriers on the roof of your vehicle with a Thule Hull-A-Port Kayak Carriers # TH834 you need a roof rack with cross bars that are at least 50 inches in length. To have a complete roof rack assembly for you vehicle you will need the following products:
