Furrion RV Stereo Speaker Zone Balance

Updated 05/23/2019 | Published 05/22/2019

Question:

Hello. I purchased a brand new 2017 Jayflight 32 bhds about 1.5 years ago. Over a year ago I had a technician attend our seasonal site to inspect our stereo /home theatre system. The issue we have is that I cannot get sound out of both speakers when ed to outside zone. Inside speaker setup seems to work although weak but in order to get my exterior speakers to work I have to set the speaker balance to -1 to -9 right or -1 to -9 left. If at 0 balance the voice cuts out and only plays the background noise. The technician replaced the system but wired it up the same so it fixed nothing. Is there something that can be done? He didn’t know what to do so he said he’d check with Jayco and get back to me. That never happened. The stereo is a furrion dv3100. Thanks in advance

I contacted the tech at Furrion about the speaker issue with part # DV3100 and he says to make sure the ground and power wire on the speakers are not switched. If they are switched it would make the speaker sound weak. Also make sure the wires are not loose.

It is very common for manufacturers to use two different types of speakers for interior and exterior. If the exterior speakers have a lower electrical sensitivity then it makes sense why you have to set the balance to negative to get the speaker to play sound. It may just be the design of the speakers that were used during installation.
