I am interested if this 12 v powered vent can be installed vertically. Ie would rain get in. Also how big of a hole do you need.

The Exhaust Ventilator # PLR23 that you referenced is designed to mount horizontally and is designed to be mated with a 7-1/4 inch diameter butterfly vent on the interior side of the trailer with the part # PLR24-002 which comes with a gasket.
