Recommended Inno Hanging Bike Rack for 2012 Mazda 5

Question:

Hi, The rear bumper clearance seems unclear. I was wondering if the Inno INH540 bike rack would work on a 2012 Mazda 5 with either the Curtis C11127 hitch or the Drawtite 24874 hitch? Thanks.

We do have some great hitch-mounted bike racks that will work well on your 2012 Mazda 5, however based on my research the Inno Vertical Hang 4 Bike Rack # INH540 that you referenced will not be compatible.

This is because the Inno Bike Rack requires that the hitch pin hole is recessed no more than 4-1/2 inches behind the rear bumper of the vehicle to ensure no interference between the rack and bumper. The center of the hitch pin hole for both the Draw-Tite # 24874 and the Curt # C11127 trailer hitches will sit about 4-3/4 inches behind the rear bumper, which is just enough to cause the base of the rack to hit the bumper before being able to secure inside the receiver.

A good alternative would be the Thule Helium Pro 2 Bike Rack # TH9042PRO . It has a lot of nice features and necessary space to not make contact with your rear bumper.

I have attached a video demonstration of this rack that you can check out as well.

Please just keep in mind that both trailer hitches available for your vehicle are Class I models. Because these are lighter-duty hitches the most bikes that they can safely support with a carrier is 2. You can certainly still use a 4-bike rack but I do not recommend loading more than 2 bikes onto it to maintain safety and the warranty of the trailer hitch.

The Inno Aero Light does also come in a 2-bike version with part # INH620.
