Storing the Saris Bones Hitch Rack in Garage
Updated 03/04/2019 | Published 03/02/2019 >
Question:
How do you recommend storing this rack in the garage when its not in use? I have a very adaptable Elfa storage system with lots of possibilities to hang the rack from its top, but the curvature of the Saris Bones makes me concerned that the Elfa hook attachments wont be able to reach out far enough from the wall to hold the rack properly without squashing the cradles... and the fact that the hitch attachment itself will stick out from the wall in an el shape makes me even more concerned that this thing is going to hit somebody as they walk around our car if I store it on the wall. Ive seen you have the Swagman X available, but given that its pin is already 5-1/2 inch from the wall, it looks like this would mean the rack sticks out at least a foot or more from the wall when mounted with the Swagman. It would at least help to have a sense of the dimensions of the Bones 2 when folded and/or a sense of whether the hitch section can be adjusted for better storage. Heres a photo of the spot in my almost completed garage Ive reserved for a couple of bike racks, if that helps...

The arms of the Saris Bones Hitch 2 Bike Rack # SA882 fold down to make it a bit easier to store. Looking at your picture it would probably be best to put the rack in the right corner of the garage floor with the shank pointed at the rear of the garage. We don't really have a great way to hang the rack on your wall so it might just be easiest to have it in the corner on the ground leaning on the right wall with the arms folded down.
