Question:
My vehicles brake lights are off when the pedal is depressed in the tow position so I am wondering what is the purpose of connecting the cold side of the brake light switch to the terminal marked 1inch on the ICX transmitter when not installing a Brake-Lite Relay? Can I just eliminate that connection? Thank you...

I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster regarding your 2002 Jeep Wrangler. Normally when the brake lights don't illuminate when a vehicle's in the tow position, a stop light switch needs to be added to provide a signal to the Even Brake System # RM-9400. Roadmaster though tests for this when building their fit guide and my contact said that this shouldn't be the case with your model Wrangler, as there should be a white wire with a tan stripe behind the brake pedal that does receive power with the brakes applied, both in or out of tow position.
My contact wonders if your Jeep may have been flat towed in the past by a previous owner and a brake light relay was installed to do so, which would cut off power at the brake light switch wire. I recommend checking to see if there is a relay installed and if so, you can tie into that for the Even Brake.
If not, your only option is to add the Universal Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000 to the Jeep to ensure proper operation of the Even Brake. I have attached a sample install video of this kit along with the written instruction manual that you can take a look at.
