Question:

Everything seems to be connected properly, but the controller will not adjust. It shows 0 or 13 with nothing in between. Also the trailer brakes are activated and am unable to pull the trailer. I checked the break a way and I jacked up the trailer to check the brakes without the controller being connected. The wheels spin freely. Right now it seems that the P2 must be faulty. The trailer brakes are fully engaged with the controller plugged in and no adjustment. Thanks

For starters, we need to rule out the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 as part of the problem. In order to do this you will need to sever the blue brake output wire just behind the brake controller and then test it with a multimeter with neither the brake pedal or manual override applied. If you show any voltage here then the brake controller is faulty and will need to be replaced.

If the multimeter reads zero with the above steps then I would bet you have a short in the blue brake output wire thats leads from the brake controller all the way back to the braking assemblies. You will need to inspect every inch of this wire to make sure there are no shorts. The trailer side is easy to do but the vehicle side is usually not. If it comes down to it you can run a new one with part # 10-1-1.

The other issue that may be occuring is that the blue brake output and 12 volt power wires are switched at the trailer connectors so you will need to check this as well.
