Can A Square U-Bolt Be Used with the Fulton Round Snap-Ring Swivel Marine

Updated 12/14/2018 | Published 12/13/2018

Question:

Im interested in mounting this jack to the 3inch square tongue of my boat trailer, though instead of the standard back-side brackets and bolts, Id like to use square U-bolts for a cleaner look. I have two questions though If the ends of the U-bolts extend out past the front plate around an inch or so, will that prevent the main hinge from pivoting will the corners of the pivoting piece miss the ends of the U-bolts? Also, will U-bolt part #CE15253A, work for this application? Thanks.

In regards to the Fulton Round Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack part # FTJ12000101, the action of the swivel will not be impeded by a set of bolts extending out past the mounting hole towards the jack tube. I went out to our warehouse and tested this for you. I would just trim them back with an angle grinder but they won't interfere with the operation of it.

The CE Smith U-Bolt part # CE15253A that you referenced does have the correct width of 3-1/8" but the bolt diameter of 7/16" is too large. You will need a u-bolt that is 3-1/8" wide x 3/8" diameter which we do not offer. You could however most likely obtain this from your local hardware store though.
