Nothing Working on Left Side of 2001 Ford F-350 After Repairing Torn Wire On Left Trailer Light

Question:

I found a crushed/torn wire to the left light fixture on my flat bed trailer and fixed it. Now I have discovered I still dont have anything on the left working and there is no power coming to the pin on the 7 way plug on my 2001 F350. Is there something fried on my truck because of the torn wire? I have a dual plug system - one on the bumper and one in the bed for goose neck trailers.......neither has power coming to the left turn and brake. What am I missing??

It sounds like the crushed or torn wire might have shorted out and blown a fuse or relay on your 2001 Ford F-350.

What you can do is to check with the vehicle owners manual for all of the fuses and relays related to the tow package. You can then check those to determine if there is a problem and replace as needed. I am including a link to a video of a gooseneck wiring harness being installed on a 2000 Ford F-250. At the 2:57 mark of the video it will show installation of the fuses and relays.

If the fuses and relays check out good you might also try and disconnect the trailer and remove the positive battery cable from the battery in your Ford F-350 for a minute or two. When the battery cable is reconnected it could reset the computer and cure the problem.
