There is a bike rack that will work with your 2018 Trek Fuel EX 8 mountain bike with a 49 inch wheelbase but the Thule T1 will not; trying to squeeze a bike that has a wheelbase which is too large will result in your bike not being properly secured.

There is not a 1-bike rack that will fit a bike with a 49 inch wheelbase so you will need a 2-bike rack and the best option is the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT # TH92BJ because it will work with bikes that have a wheelbase up to 50-1/2 inches.
