Question:
Which trailer wiring kit should I order for my 2012 Kia Sorrento v6. I dont want to have to run a wire back to the battery. I also want to be sure my electrical system in the vehicle is protected. I read a few reviews that say the wire provided in the kit was not long enough to install as per the directions. Thanks.

The only wiring harness for a 2012 Kia Sorento that does not require a direct connection to the battery is # 118541, but it only fits models that have the factory tow package.
If the vehicle does not have the factory tow package, you will need to use Tow Ready Wiring Harness, # 118506 or CURT Wiring Harness, # C56328. With either of these harnesses, a few customers found the green wire (for the passenger side tail light) to be a little short. One customer did find an alternate route behind the bumper and along the rear door seal that worked for him.
A power wire is required for either harness. This provides most of the power to the trailer tail lights which protects the vehicle electrical system. Routing the wire is not all that difficult though it may be time consuming. The easiest way to route it would be to follow along another wiring harness under the vehicle avoiding areas that may pinch or burn the wire. I have included a link to the installation details for you.
