looking at the curt and drawtite hitches for my new 18 sportwagen. i've got a bike rack that fits the class 1 size. which is better?

The Draw-Tite, part # 24949, and Curt, part # C11422, hitches that fit your 2018 VW Golf Sportwagen are the same in a couple of ways. Specifically they have the same specs and install using the same basic process. I've linked the install details for them both, as well as a video from when we installed the Draw-Tite on a 2015 Sportwagen for you.

Between the two I recommend the Draw-Tite to avoid Curt's recommendation of a support strap, part # 18050, when carrying a bike rack.
